Sweet Basil
The king of herbs. Essential for pesto, caprese salads, pasta sauces, and Thai dishes. Loves Houston heat and pairs beautifully with tomatoes. Pinch flower buds to keep leaves coming all season.
Cilantro/Coriander
A must-have for salsa, guacamole, and Tex-Mex cooking. The leaves are cilantro; let it go to seed and you get coriander. Plant in cool weather — it bolts fast in Texas heat, so get it in the ground early.
Dill — Teddy
A compact, bushy variety perfect for containers and small gardens. Great for pickles, fish, dips, and potato salad. Teddy is slower to bolt than standard dill, giving you a longer harvest of fresh fronds.
Lavender — Bandera Deep Purple
A compact, richly colored lavender with deep purple blooms. Drought tolerant and deer resistant. Wonderful for sachets, potpourri, borders, and pollinator gardens. Thrives in well-drained soil and full sun.
Lavender — Elegance Purple
A tidy, uniform variety with fragrant purple flower spikes. Perfect for borders, containers, and cutting. Attracts butterflies and bees. Handles heat well once established and requires minimal watering.
Lavender — Goodwin Creek
A hardy hybrid lavender with silvery-green foliage and violet-blue flowers that bloom nearly year-round in mild climates. Excellent heat and humidity tolerance — one of the best lavenders for the Houston area. Great for borders and dried arrangements.
Curly Parsley
A kitchen staple for garnishing, soups, salads, and sauces. Rich in vitamins A, C, and K. The curly variety adds texture to dishes and holds up well as a garnish. Easy to grow in sun or partial shade.
Rosemary
A tough, drought-tolerant evergreen herb that loves Texas heat. Indispensable for roasted meats, potatoes, breads, and marinades. Also beautiful as a landscape plant. Once established, it practically takes care of itself.
Rosemary — Barbecue
An upright rosemary with sturdy, straight stems perfect for using as skewers on the grill. Strip the lower leaves, thread on meat or veggies, and the stems infuse smoky rosemary flavor as they cook. Same great culinary and landscape uses as standard rosemary.
English Thyme
The classic culinary thyme. Essential for soups, stews, roasted meats, and French cooking. A low-growing perennial with tiny fragrant leaves that packs a lot of flavor. Drought tolerant and loves well-drained soil.
Creeping Red Thyme
A low-growing, spreading groundcover thyme with tiny pink-red flowers that attract pollinators. Beautiful between stepping stones, along borders, or cascading over walls. Fragrant when walked on. Drought tolerant and deer resistant.
