Botanical Name Hibiscus rosa-sinensis 'Feeling Hot'
Description As its name suggests, 'Feeling Hot' is bred to perform beautifully during the peak of the Houston summer. This tropical hibiscus features glossy, deep green foliage that contrasts perfectly with its electric, high-saturation blooms. While it loves the humidity of the Gulf Coast, it requires well-drained soil to thrive. In our region, it is best treated as a summer annual or kept in containers that can be moved indoors during winter, as it will not survive a freeze. It is a heavy feeder that rewards regular care with a non-stop display of flowers.
Exposure Full Sun (Essential for maximum bloom production)
Height x Width 3-5 ft. Tall x 2-3 ft. Wide
Water Medium to High; requires consistent moisture, especially during the heat of July and August. Do not allow to dry out completely.
Zones 10 - 11 (Must be protected from all freezing temperatures)
Fertilization Feed every 2 weeks with a water-soluble hibiscus fertilizer high in potassium for best blooming results.
Pruning Lightly prune to maintain shape and encourage new growth where flower buds form.
Deer Resistance Low
