Botanical Name Camellia sasanqua 'Kanjiro'
Description A stunning, upright grower prized in the Willis and Houston area for its profuse rosy-pink flowers with golden centers. 'Kanjiro' is more sun-tolerant than many other camellias, but still requires acidic, well-draining soil. Because of our local clay, we recommend planting in raised beds or mounds to ensure the roots stay healthy and out of standing water.
Exposure Full sun to partial shade (Filtered light is ideal)
Height x Width 8-10 ft. Tall x 6-8 ft. Wide
Water Moderate; keep soil consistently moist. Applying mulch is vital in Texas summers to protect the shallow root system from heat.
Zones 7 - 10
Fertilization Apply an acid-loving plant fertilizer in early spring once blooming has finished.
Pruning Prune after the flowering cycle in late winter or early spring to maintain shape and density.
Deer Resistance Moderate
