FALL IS THE BEST TIME TO PLANT
In our part of the world fall is by far the best time to plant. Because of all the fall festivals and holidays coming up most people don't think about any major garden work this time of the year. In the spring everyone is all excited about planting flowers, vegetables shrubs and trees. Planting shrubs and trees in the spring is great if you live up north. Up there if you plant in the fall you could risk losing your plants because of root freeze. Here we do not have that problem but in the spring we have almost as severe a problem. When shrubs trees and some perennials are planted too late in the spring the plants are put under a lot of stress because in the springtime plants want to put on new growth of foliage and flowers. With severe high temperatures and long periods without rain soon to follow you will have plants with more top growth needing water without a large enough root system to sustain the plants needs. During our winters plants build strong roots while the top growth takes a break. You will have much healthier plants with a better long term survival rate when you plant in the fall.
With that being said the problem has always been and always will be finding a good supply of healthy plants to sell in the fall. Because the demand has always been in the spring, many growers time their inventory to be at it's peak at that time of the year.
We have a great local growers that that can get us most things we need in the fall. Come by and check out our fall inventory. If we don't have what you need we can probably get it for you.
